About Us

Parenting 101 is a collaboration that was 50 years in the making.

Co-producers Nancy Holson and Susan Holson are sisters. They’ve been observing parenting skills and styles together since birth. Both women have children and have drawn on their own experiences in creating Parenting 101. The content of the show in no way passes judgment or makes any kind of commentary on their own parents (yeah, right!)

Nancy is the writer and co-producer of the New York City smash hit Bush Wars (www.bushwars.com). She’s also been writing and producing the ever-changing political satire News in Revue (www.newsinrevue.com) in venues across the country since 1991. Her writing has garnered 5 Emmy® awards and rave reviews. Her troupes have performed for Senators, Presidents and numerous corporate and social groups.

Susan is the Co-Publisher and Editor of Kids VT Family Newspaper (www.kidsvt.com), a regional publication designed to make  parenting easier and family life more fun. Her MBA from University of Virginia and total immersion in her children’s lives has uniquely qualified her as a family marketing expert.

The sisters have always held great respect for each other and are thrilled to have this opportunity to combine their talents and work together.

It truly is all about family!

The Creative Team

Jay Falzone (Co-writer/Director/Choreographer/Understudy) is thrilled to open the St. Louis production of PARENTING 101, having directed and choreographed both the Burlington and Rochester proudctions.  For the past nine years, Jay has worked with creative partner Nancy on THE NEWS IN REVUE as co-director/choreographer/performer. He received a BFA in Musical Theatre Performance from Syracuse University and has performed across the U.S. as well as Europe. Writing credits include book and lyrics for DOUBLE DUET (world premier at Downstairs Cabaret Theatre), THAT IS TO LOVE (world premier in Syracuse, NY), and YOU DON'T KNOW JACK! (an adult retelling of Jack & Jill curently in development).  Directing credits include BUSH WARS (off-B’way), the 50th Anniversary National Tour of SNOOPY!, National Tour of AIN'T MISBEHAVIN', WHAT WE DON'T CONFESS (off-B'way), PLAID TIDINGS at Geva Theatre, RUN FOR YOUR WIFE and I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE for the Downstairs Cabaret Theatre, and TELL ME ON A SUNDAY (Syracuse Stage After Ours). Choreographing credits include 42ND STREET, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, THE LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, and DAMN YANKEES.  Much thanks to the amazing cast for always believing in the show, "the gang" for their persistence, Stephen for filling everyday with fun and music, and my parents for a blessed childhood and a heck of a lot of material for this show.

Alexander Rovang (Musical Director) began his musical theater career on the floor of a bus. (Let's all take a moment to breathe a collective sigh for the memory of non-equity, one-night tours). After realizing that his grandmother was able to sit through the entire "Two Ladies" scene in CABARET and still pay for his dinner that evening, he knew that his calling had arrived. A native of Nebraska (and yet born in Albany, go figure), Mr. Rovang has had the pleasure of playing opera in Israel, tango in Argentina, and SWING in Chatham. One of these days he hopes to grow up and get a real job like his mother (a cardiac surgeon), or really throw in the towel and race motorcycles like his dad. He lives in New York City.
